Overview
At OpenCommunityAtlas, we recognize that plans may change, and we are committed to ensuring our refund policies are clear and equitable. This document provides the criteria under which refunds are granted for our yacht charter services.
Before you book, please review this document thoroughly. By reserving a charter with OpenCommunityAtlas, you consent to and accept these terms for refunds.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Qualified for: Full refund except for administrative fees
Refund Duration: 5-7 business days
Administrative Fee: €50 for credit card payments
Requirements: Must be submitted in a written form via email or telephone
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Qualified for: Half of the overall charter cost
Refund Duration: 7-10 business days
Administrative Fee: €25 deducted from the refund amount
Requirements: A valid reason is mandatory; costs for handling will be deducted
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Qualified for: No refund provided
Exception: Urgent circumstances will be taken into account
Alternative: Credit for future charters might be issued at the discretion of the management
Requirements: Evidence necessitated for emergent claims
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Our primary concern is safety. In the event the charter conditions are unsafe as determined by our certified captain, we offer alternative solutions:
- Complete Refund: A full refund is provided if rescheduling is unfeasible
- Rescheduling: We'll move your charter to a later date at no extra fee
- Charter Credit: Issued credit valid for one year from the initial charter date
Weather Assessment Procedure
An assessment of the weather includes:
- Evaluation of wind conditions and direction
- Monitoring of wave dimensions and sea state
- Visibility and precipitation projections
- Coast Guard notices and alerts
- Captain's safety review
Decision Timeframe: Decisions on weather cancellations are finalized at least 4 hours prior to departure.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Mitigating Circumstances
We understand the unforeseen nature of medical emergencies. The following scenarios may be eligible for special consideration:
- Sudden medical ailments or injuries requiring hospitalization
- A family member's passing
- Urgent military conscription or recall
- Judicial or jury duties
- Climatic disasters that impact travel
Proof Requirements
For processing refunds under emergency conditions, we require:
- Certification from a health care provider or documentation from a hospital
- Death certificate, when relevant
- Official military orders
- Legal summons or a notice for jury service
- Emergency announcements or travel warnings
Execution: Requests for emergency refunds are attended to within 3-5 working days after documentation submission.
Operational Cancellations
Technical Failures
In the event of technical issues with the assigned vessel that cannot be resolved:
- Substitute Vessel: We'll strive to offer a comparable vessel replacement
- Complete Refund: Granted when an alternative is not available
- Partial Refund: If the replacement vessel has a different rate
- Reparation: Additional redress may be granted for the trouble caused
Crew Not Available
In the unlikely situation that the certified crew is not available:
- Efforts to find an alternative crew will be made
- A total refund if the charter is unable to proceed
- Rebooking at no extra cost
Refund Processing
Mode of Payment
Processing of refunds will be through the original payment method utilized for the booking:
- Credit Cards: 5-7 working days
- Bank Transfers: 7-10 working days
- Cash/Cheque: 3-5 working days
Administrative Charges
Credit Card Charges
€50 charge for cancellations made over 72 hours before
Bank Transfer Costs
€25 charge for all bank transfer refunds
International Transactions
Additional charges may apply for international refunds
Charter Credits
Issuance of Credits
Charter credits may be given instead of cash refunds under certain circumstances:
- Short-notice cancellations (under 24 hours)
- Cancellations caused by adverse weather
- Requests for voluntary changes in dates
- Service disruptions
Terms of Credits
- Validity: Good for one year from the issue date
- Transferability: Non-transferable between people
- Value: Matching the original charter cost (excludes handling fees)
- Utilization: Applicable to any future charters
- Lifespan: No prolongation after 12 months
Partial Service Refunds
Disruptions During Service
If your charter is disrupted or cut short for reasons we take responsibility for:
- Prorated reimbursement based on the time not used
- Credit of same value for a future charter
- Complimentary services or upgrades offered
Interruptions Caused by Guests
If a charter finishes prematurely due to actions of the guests or for safety breaches:
- No refund for the time left unused
- Complete payment is still required
- Potential extra fees may be imposed
Dispute Resolution
Should you dispute a refund judgment, you can:
